The terms that apply when you use this website. Short, and written to be read.
Using the site means accepting these
These terms apply to dataproducts.io. If you use the site, they apply to you. If you do not accept them, please do not use it.
They do not govern work we do for clients. That is covered by the signed agreement for that engagement, which takes precedence over anything on this page.
What this site is
A description of what Data Products LLC does, written to help you decide whether to talk to us. It includes articles, case studies, a glossary and free self-assessments.
We keep it accurate and we correct things when we find them wrong, but we do not warrant that every page is current. Anything time-sensitive — a price, a duration, a regulatory position — should be confirmed with us before you rely on it.
The free assessments, specifically
What a score is and is not
The assessments score your own answers about your own organization. They are a structured prompt for a conversation, not an audit, not a certification, and not professional advice. A result does not establish that your systems are secure, compliant, or fit for any purpose.
Do not use a score as evidence in a regulatory filing, a customer security questionnaire, or a board paper without saying where it came from. If you need a finding that survives scrutiny, that is a paid engagement in which we examine the systems rather than ask you about them.
Nothing here is professional advice
Nothing on this site is legal, financial, security or compliance advice, and reading it does not create a client relationship. Regulatory landscapes change and vary by jurisdiction. Take advice from someone who has seen your actual circumstances.
What belongs to whom
The content, design, code and marks on this site belong to Data Products LLC or to the parties who licensed them to us. Data IQ™ is our trademark.
You may read, print and share pages for your own or your organization’s internal use, and quote us with attribution and a link. You may not republish substantial parts of the site, resell it, or present it as your own. If you want to use something more extensively, ask — the answer is usually yes.
Acceptable use
Please do not attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or anything connected to it, submit anything malicious through a form, or scrape it in a way that degrades it for other people. Automated collection for the purpose of impersonating us is specifically not permitted.
Links to other sites
We link out where it helps. We do not control those sites and linking to one is not an endorsement of everything on it.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
This site and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Data Products LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement, and does not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, or that the information on it is complete or current at any given moment.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Data Products LLC and its members, officers, employees and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, business or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, this site — whether based in contract, tort, strict liability or otherwise, and whether or not we were advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to this site will not exceed one hundred US dollars (US$100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Governing law
These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.
You and Data Products LLC agree that the state and federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or your use of this site, and each party consents to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
Nothing in this section limits any right you may have to bring proceedings in your country of residence where applicable consumer law gives you that right.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page is the date they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised version.
