Industries

Data and AI that start from your industry’s numbers, and stay inside its rules.

Eight industries, each with its own numbers, rules and ways of working. Each page names where the work usually stalls, shows how the figures leaders argue about can be counted, sets out the rules that come with the data, and screens an AI use case before anyone meets it. Pick yours, or start from the decision in front of you.

Healthcare · Financial services · Manufacturing and utilities · Professional services · Public sector · Retail · Education · Private equity

Eight tiles, one for each industry: healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, professional services, public sector, retail, education and private equity. The same four lines light in every tile in turn: where the work stalls, the numbers, the rules and the AI check

Eight industries

Find your industry, set out in its own language

Each page is laid out the way its readers already work: a ward chart, a ledger, a production routing, a memo, a public form, a store aisle, a course catalog and a data room. Each card shows one thing to try on the page and the evidence behind it.

Four steps

The same four steps, in eight sets of terms

Every industry page takes the same four steps, because every engagement does. What changes is the vocabulary, the numbers and the rules. A few examples of each, linked to where they sit.

  1. 1

    Find where the work stalls

The problem as the people closest to it see it, and what it costs.

  2. 2

    Count each number once

Each figure leaders argue about, counted every way it can be, with the arithmetic shown.

  3. 3

Check the rules that come with the data

Who each rule reaches, where it stands this month, and what it asks of the data, linked to its source.

  4. 4

Screen an AI use case before launch

What the tool decides, the data it touches, the rules to read, the conditions for use and who reviews it.

Then one first step, scoped to one problem, in any of the eight.

Ways in

Three ways to start, whatever the industry

The same first steps sit at the end of every industry page. Each is scoped to one problem, and none commits you to the next.

  1. Find what is worth fixing first

Two weeks, one problem · AI & Data Assessment Sprint

One problem traced through your own systems to where it stalls; the gaps on one list with what each costs; an order-of-magnitude cost to fix them; and the next steps in order.

Ask about a sprint for your sector
  2. Review the AI already in use

One AI use case, to a decision · AI Governance Quickstart

One AI use case taken through your rules and your data to a decision, with an inventory and a review path the rest of your AI can follow.

    Ask about reviewing your AI
  3. Data Maturity Assessment

Free; takes about six minutes · A self-serve assessment

Fifteen questions on lineage, quality, ownership, access and platform, scored on the spot, with no email asked for.

    Take the six-minute assessment

Buying or holding a company? Data diligence for one deal starts on the Private Equity page.

A to Z

Sector not listed? Look it up

Many sectors sit inside one of the eight pages. Find yours below; each entry points to the page that covers it.

Not in the index? Start from the decision instead

The five business priorities begin with the question in front of you, whatever the sector: what it is worth, who owns the decision, why the pilot stalled, whether the data is ready, and whether anyone is using it. Or bring the sector itself to a 30-minute call.

Questions

What leaders ask before choosing a page

Five questions about how the industry pages work and what sits behind them.

Do you only work in these eight industries?

No. These eight have pages of their own. The work underneath, joining systems, settling the numbers, checking the rules and putting AI into production with an owner, carries across sectors. The index above shows where neighboring sectors are covered, and the business priorities start from the decision rather than the sector.

Why do two of the pages show results from other sectors?

Because we publish only engagements we can describe, and not every industry has one yet. The Education page presents three results from other sectors as transfer credit, and the Private Equity page files three operating-company results by value lever. Each says so where its evidence starts.

Is the rules content on each page legal advice?

No. Each rules section is dated, says who each rule reaches, and links to its source, so your counsel can check it quickly. It shows what is worth evaluating; your counsel decides what applies.

How do the industry pages differ from the practice and business priority pages?

They are three ways into the same work. An industry page starts from your sector’s numbers and rules, a business priority from the decision in front of you, and a practice page from the capability, such as data engineering, AI or governance.

Can we start with one department, plant, program or deal?

Yes. The first steps on every industry page are scoped to one problem, and none commits you to the next.

Bring the number nobody in your sector counts the same way.

A rate your board, your regulator and your teams each read differently, a rule you are not sure reaches your data, or an AI tool already in use. Thirty minutes with the person who would lead the work.
