01The Situation

The Situation

Business Problem

Contract documents were dispersed across systems and business units, making it hard to see—at a glance—whether active vendors were operating under current terms, whether SOWs matched the governing MSA, and whether invoicing lined up with what was actually contracted. Leaders wanted a consistent way to answer, “Which vendors are in compliance, which aren’t, and why?” without weeks of manual review.

02The Challenge

The Challenge

Different document types (MSAs vs. SOWs vs. POs vs. Invoices) use different structures, term names, and levels of detail. Some were scanned, some digital-native, some with regional clauses. The legal team needed a way to normalize these artifacts, extract key clauses/fields, and run a compare-and-comply analysis across vendors—while preserving attorney review and auditability.

03The Solution

The Solution

We designed and implemented a contract-intelligence solution for the firm’s legal and procurement teams that centralizes core commercial documents (MSAs, SOWs, POs, invoices, and related contracts), extracts the terms that matter to the firm, and runs a consistent compare-and-comply analysis so nonstandard or out-of-date agreements are surfaced immediately for review.

  • 02Compare-and-comply against the clause libraryEvaluated extracted terms against the firm’s approved clause and standards library to flag missing, nonstandard, or outdated language, including SOWs that don’t properly inherit MSA terms.
  • 03Review-ready reportsGenerated review-ready reports for legal and procurement so they could amend, renegotiate, or sunset relationships without re-reading every contract.

Impact

What changed, as reported.

The figures as printed in the firm's own case-study collateral — nothing rounded or annualised.

15–25%Of items were actually nonstandard or out of date — the contract triage effort was cut to only these.

The compare-comply solution gave legal and procurement a single view of active agreements, and helped transition the team from full-document reads to exception-first reviews. Teams cut the contract triage effort to only the 15–25% of items that were actually nonstandard or out of date. Rolling findings up to the vendor level meant invoice/PO activity could be matched to the right governing terms, reducing the chance of paying against expired or nonconforming agreements. And because the compare-and-comply rules were standardized, the firm can now apply the same checks to new vendors and new geographies without rebuilding the workflow each time.
